Flea Bite At Police Station Injury Compensation Payout

A West Midlands Police officer has received £8,000 in compensation following a flea bite acquired at a local police station. The recipient says that his place of work was infested with fleas at the time.

The news of the claim comes in the wake of other claims which have also been made against the West Midlands police force and indeed, the police force in general.

Other cases have involved those who have been bitten by other kinds of insects; loud noises in the workplace; unsafe seating; and accidents caused on other peoples’ property while on duty.

Birmingham City Council’s community safety chairman Councilor said: “I think on the back of these figures the force has to look very carefully at the health safety measures that have been adopted.

The Assistant Chief Constable from West-Midlands police said that although some injuries may appear innocuous on one level there can be less obvious side effects and long-term damage and that many police officers have to enter dangerous situations on a daily basis.

He maintained that the systems used by the force require full detailed medical reports and that payouts are given off the back of expert medical evidence and amounts are decided on using case law advised on by legal in-house experts.
