Headway UK Gets Award For Brain Injury Compensation Advice

One of the country’s leading brain injury charities, Headway UK, has been presented with the Commended Award by the British Medical Book of The Year Awards.

The award is in relation to a booklet the charity has produced entitled, ‘Claiming Compensation In Scotland After Brain Injury’.

The area of compensation in relation to brain injury is sometimes not straightforward and the booklet published has been produced to help brain injury sufferers and their families understand more about the legal system.

‘Superb Resource’

One of the doctors judging the competition praised the information in the booklet. He said: “This is a superb resource, the best in my batch. The language is nearly always perfect for the intended readers.”

As well as the content, which he said was a good invitation for further reading, he also said that the layout was impressive with its careful use of font and style. “It makes excellent use of differentiated font size and colour for headings and body text. It’s a real pleasure to read,” he said.

In total, there were 70 different organisations who put forward entries for the Patient Information category at the BMA Awards this year. It has been designed to encourage excellence in the communication of information about various different medical conditions.
