Mesothelioma Calendar Dedicated To Former Plymouth Campaigner
A calendar has been produced to raise awareness of asbestos-related illness, mesothelioma.
It has been dedicated to a local Plymouth mesothelioma campaigner who died of the disease, as well as many others who have also died of the illness.
The calendar has been produced by iPlymouth Photography Group and the South West Mesothelioma Support Group who hope that it will communicate the dangers of asbestos exposure.
Specialist Nurse Says It’s Important To Be Aware Of Asbestos Dangers
The calendar has received a lot of support from locals in the Plymouth region. Sponsors have covered all the costs of producing the calendar including a printing company who covered the printing costs and even the envelopes which were donated by a local company.
A member of the SWMG group announced a ‘thank you’ to everyone who had helped get the calendar completed.
Commenting about lung cancer and mesothelioma, a nurse who specialises in the illness said that the calendar will help raise awareness of the dangers of asbestos and its relationship with mesothelioma.
She said: “It is important for people to be aware of the dangers of asbestos and the calendar is important to our members to be able to do this and to remember those who have lost their lives to mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.”
The calendar proceeds will be donated to Mesothelioma Research, the Mesothelioma Trust Fund at St Luke’s Hospice.
Have You Suffered From Mesothelioma?
If you or a family member is suffering from mesothelioma then it is often a very distressing time. Mesothelioma is usually caused by exposure to asbestos, often decades ago when there was a more predominant use of the substance in various industries.
Late-onset symptoms are characteristic of the illness and predicted life expectancy is not often long following a diagnosis of the illness.
