Record Injury Compensation Case Against Liverpool Factory To Begin

A Liverpool chipboard factory in Merseyside is at the centre of a huge compensation case involving around 18,000 claimants.

Residents Claim Blaze Damaged Their Health

A fire began at the plant in August 2011 and the residents living close by to it are said to be putting in claims that the blaze damaged their health.

Trial Scheduled For 2014

A hearing at the High Court in Manchester said there would be a trial scheduled for this time next year, between July and September 2014.

Questionnaires have been devised to ascertain the specific medical problems people have encountered because of the accident; these will have to be completed by November this year.

Claimant Numbers Rose Dramatically

The number of claimants pursuing settlements has risen from 6,000 to 18,000 since the case began. Medical practices in the area close to the factory are said to have been inundated with inquiries and access to medical records has been slowed up. The volume of people making claims had made is impossible not to put an extension on the trial said the Judge.
