What is a letter of engagement?
It’s a legal term that’s often used in personal injury claims and is sometimes left unexplained. So what exactly is it?
A letter of engagement acts as written confirmation that there is an agreement about the services that a firm is going to provide for their client. This letter is treated as a contract and therefore it will have the addresses of both parties who are involved in the agreement – so the client and the law firm. While this letter is treated similarly to a contract it is less formal than an official contract but is still a legally binding document outlining the business relationship between two parties.
The letter will outline the specific services that are going to be provided, including payment information and due dates and criteria which would state that the job has been performed satisfactorily.
