Former Plumber’s Asbestos Exposure

An inquest has revealed that a worker from Cornwall died because of exposure to asbestos 50 years ago.

The man, originally from Liverpool, died in the Royal Cornwall Hospital in March this year, aged 69.

The man’s death followed a rapid deterioration in 2012 and an ultimate diagnosis of mesothelioma. He was admitted to hospital in March but died three days later. He had moved to Cornwall only a short time before his death to be closer to his family.

Inquest Said He Had Been Exposed To Asbestos

The coroner dealing with the inquest confirmed that the man has worked with asbestos 50 years ago when he was employed in several different tradesmen roles including an asbestos sheet fixer.

The coroner also verified that the man had died of an industrial disease.

Asbestos Exposure In The Workplace

There are many kinds of jobs and trades which leave workers vulnerable to asbestos exposure. More so, several decades ago when there was increased use of this deadly industrial material.
